Finding out what time is the Dodgers game requires looking past generic sports hubs and understanding how Major League Baseball schedules, time zones, and local broadcasts operate. Whether you're trying to catch an afternoon matchup at Dodger Stadium or a late-night west coast broadcast while living in the eastern time zone, knowing where to check prevents missing the first pitch.
Most fans run into trouble because game times shift based on television networks, national broadcasts, and whether the team is playing on the road. Official team listings, regional sports networks, and league platforms offer real-time updates that account for last-minute schedule changes due to weather or TV flex picks.
Where to Find Official Dodgers Schedule Updates
Relying on outdated screenshots or social media posts leads to missed innings. Primary sources provide the most accurate game times down to the minute.
- The MLB Official Website maintains the definitive master schedule for all spring training, regular season, and postseason games, complete with live status trackers.
- The Los Angeles Dodgers Official Site supplies direct team announcements, roster updates, and promotional game time adjustments.
- Major sports networks like ESPN MLB track live scores, probable pitchers, and television channel assignments.
Understanding Time Zones and Game Start Times
Los Angeles Dodgers home games are played in Pacific Time (PT), which often creates confusion for fans following from other regions. A standard 7:10 PM game in Los Angeles translates to 10:10 PM Eastern Time (ET). When checking listings, always verify whether the displayed time matches your local clock or the venue's local time zone.
Day games usually start around 1:10 PM PT, while night games typically begin at 7:10 PM PT. However, getaway days—the final game of a series before a travel day—frequently feature earlier start times like 12:10 PM PT or 1:05 PM PT to allow teams to catch flights.
How Television and Streaming Affect Game Times
Television network selections dictate when games actually start. National broadcasts on platforms like Fox, ESPN, or Sunday Morning Baseball frequently shift standard game slots.
- Exclusive National Windows: Games picked for national television slots may have altered start times compared to standard regional windows.
- Streaming Exclusives: Platforms such as Apple TV+ or Roku hold exclusive rights to specific weekly games, which often feature unique start times outside traditional evening blocks.
- Local Blackouts: Regional restrictions apply if you live outside the local broadcast territory or use streaming services without the correct regional sports package.
Common Mistakes When Checking Game Schedules
Fans often miscalculate game times by ignoring daylight saving time changes or confusing home and away locations. When the Dodgers play an away game in the eastern or central time zones, local start times might be 6:40 PM local time, which requires converting back to Pacific Time if you're tracking it from California.
Another frequent oversight is checking yesterday's schedule or relying on cached search engine snippets. Always refresh your schedule page right before game day to account for rain delays, postponements, or rescheduled doubleheaders.
