When you need to knock out a massive grocery run, pick up a prescription, and grab household essentials all in one stop, Store #1044 is the anchor location on the east side of town. Located at 5050 Troup Hwy, this Walmart Supercenter serves residents across East Texas with full-scale retail convenience, groceries, and specialized departments. Knowing the layout, peak operating hours, and specific departmental schedules helps you skip the lines and save time on your next errand loop.
Location Overview and Standard Store Hours
Finding the store is straightforward if you're navigating down major East Texas corridors. It sits right off the main highway, making it easily accessible from both downtown Tyler and outlying residential neighborhoods.
The main retail floor operates on a reliable daily schedule. Doors open early at 6:00 AM and stay open until 11:00 PM every day of the week. Whether you prefer beating the morning rush at dawn or doing a late-night grocery haul after work, the extended hours provide plenty of flexibility. If you want a quieter, lower-stimulus shopping environment, the store observes sensory-friendly hours every morning from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, dimming lights and reducing background noise for sensitive shoppers.
Key In-Store Departments and Specialty Services
A standard grocery run is only part of what this location offers. The Supercenter layout houses several distinct counters and specialized service desks.
Pharmacy and Healthcare Services
The pharmacy department handles prescription drop-offs, refills, and immunizations. Pharmacy hours run separately from the main retail floor, typically open from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday through Saturday, with adjusted hours on Sundays. A mid-day lunch closure usually happens from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM, so plan your pickup accordingly. The drive-thru lane offers extra convenience if you're picking up routine medications with kids in the car or mobility limitations. For direct inquiries, you can reach the pharmacy staff at (903) 534-1122.
Financial Services and Extra Amenities
Beyond groceries and pharmacy care, everyday life management tools are built right into the front of the store:
- Financial Services: Check cashing, money transfers, and bill payments run from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily.
- MoneyGram and FedEx: Package drop-off and shipping services are available during designated daytime operational hours.
- Murphy Fuel Station: Located on the property for fueling up before or after your shopping trip, operating with extended daily hours that often open earlier and close late.
- On-Site Dining: A Subway restaurant operates inside the front entrance for quick bites or lunch stops.
Smart Shopping Strategies for Troup Highway
Navigating a massive Supercenter efficiently requires a bit of local strategy. The Troup Highway location gets heavy traffic during peak commuting hours and weekend afternoons.
If you want to avoid crowded aisles and long checkout waits, target Tuesday and Wednesday mornings right after the 6:00 AM opening, or mid-afternoon between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. Weekend traffic spikes heavily on Saturdays between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM as shoppers knock out weekend errands. Utilizing Walmart's online grocery pickup service allows you to bypass the aisles entirely, letting staff load your trunk directly in the designated pickup bays.
