Whether you're trying to pin down operating hours, explore local employment opportunities, or understand how this major storefront fits into the local economy, having precise details saves you time. This guide breaks down everything you need to know about navigating the facility, securing a position on the team, and utilizing its core services.
Exact Location and Standard Operating Hours
The Covington Supercenter sits conveniently off major local routes, making it easily accessible for residents throughout Tipton County. The official street address is 2031 Lanny Bridges Ave, Covington, TN 38019.
Standard operating hours for the main retail floor typically run from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM, Covington time, seven days a week. However, specific internal departments maintain varied schedules. For example, the pharmacy and the auto care center often operate on distinct hours, usually opening slightly later and closing earlier than the primary grocery and general merchandise sections. If you're planning a trip for a prescription pickup or a tire rotation, it's smart to call ahead or check the Walmart Store Finder to confirm department-specific availability before making the drive.
In-Store Services and Department Layout
As a full-scale Supercenter, the Covington facility houses much more than standard grocery aisles. Navigating the layout efficiently helps you knock out your weekly errands without backtracking across the massive retail floor.
- Grocery and Fresh Produce: Occupying the right side of the building, the grocery section features fresh meat, a bakery, a deli, and extensive frozen and dairy aisles.
- Pharmacy and Health: Located near the front left entrance, the pharmacy handles routine prescription drops, immunizations, and over-the-counter health solutions.
- Electronics and Photo Center: Situated along the back wall, this department offers consumer electronics, mobile phone activation services, and gaming supplies.
- Auto Care Center: Positioned on the exterior left side of the complex, the service bay handles oil changes, battery replacements, and tire installations.
Navigating Employment Opportunities
If you're looking for work in Tipton County, the Covington Supercenter represents one of the area's largest private employers. The facility frequently recruits for a wide variety of roles spanning entry-level positions to specialized supervision.
Common hourly openings include stocking team associates, online order filling and delivery clerks, cashiers, and overnight maintenance staff. Pay rates typically start competitive with regional benchmarks, scaling upward based on shift differentials—such as overnight premiums—and prior experience. Management and pharmacy technician roles command higher hourly scales or annual salaries, often accompanied by standard benefits packages including health insurance and 401(k) matching.
To apply for an open position, you should bypass third-party job boards and submit your credentials directly through the official Walmart Careers Portal. Applications require an active profile, and listings update dynamically as headcount needs shift.
Economic and Community Footprint in Tipton County
Beyond retail transactions, large-scale box stores anchor regional supply chains and influence local commerce. In rural and micropolitan areas like Covington, a Supercenter functions as a central anchor tenant that draws shoppers from neighboring communities, which in turn benefits adjacent local businesses, restaurants, and gas stations.
The store also participates in corporate philanthropic initiatives, occasionally funneling grants and surplus food donations to local hunger-relief organizations and community groups across West Tennessee. While local economic debates often focus on the balance between national chains and small-town downtown merchants, the Covington location remains an entrenched economic pillar providing steady employment, tax revenue, and convenient access to essential goods for thousands of local households.
