Mike Holmes Jr stands at an estimated height of 6 feet 2 inches (1.88 meters). As a prominent contractor, television personality, and skilled carpenter known for his work across popular HGTV networks, his physical stature often surprises fans who watch him work side-by-side with his famous father, Mike Holmes Sr. Standing tall on camera, his height gives him a commanding physical presence on busy construction and home renovation sites.
Beyond the numbers, his physical build is matched by years of hands-on framing, demolition, and heavy remodeling work. Born on July 25, 1989, in Toronto, Canada, he has spent more than two decades working in the trades. This article breaks down his physical stats, his television career roots, his family background, and answers common questions about his public profile.
Early Life and Introduction to the Trades
Growing up in Toronto, Michael Stuart Holmes Jr was immersed in the world of construction from a young age. His father, Mike Holmes Sr, built a household name by fixing botched construction jobs and advocating for homeowners. Instead of traditional summer jobs, Junior started working directly with his father on job sites when he was just 14 years old.
Working on demanding residential renovation sites required physical endurance. Hauling drywall, framing walls, and managing heavy timber required him to develop strength early on. During his high school years, he stayed active by playing sports like rugby, which helped shape his athletic build and contributed to his 6-foot-2 frame. While he initially considered a path toward becoming a firefighter, his passion for building and remodeling took over, leading him to join the family business full-time.
Television Career and Professional Projects
Fans first noticed Junior when he appeared on the hit series Holmes on Holmes back in 2005. Over the years, his role expanded from a background crew member to a primary site supervisor and co-host. His height and relaxed on-camera demeanor made him a natural fit for television production.
Some of his notable television credits include:
- Holmes Inspection: Working alongside his father to uncover hidden building code violations.
- Holmes Makes It Right: Tackling complex residential restoration projects from the ground up.
- Holmes and Holmes: Starring alongside his father and his sister, Sherry Holmes, tackling major custom builds.
- Holmes 911: Helping desperate homeowners recover from catastrophic renovation failures.
Through these shows, he established himself not just as a television personality, but as a licensed professional dedicated to educating the public on healthy building practices. You can learn more about professional building standards and trade advocacy through organizations like Skills Canada.
Personal Life and Family
While his professional life is tied to public television, Junior maintains a balanced personal life. He married his high school sweetheart, Lisa Marie Holmes, a herbalist and holistic health coach, in August 2017. The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Azura Vie Holmes, in June 2023.
Living an active lifestyle in Canada, he balances filming schedules with advocacy work, supporting organizations such as Habitat for Humanity to promote affordable housing and community builds. His commitment to the trades extends to mentoring the next generation of carpenters and contractors through educational keynotes and youth programs.
