When Tyler Perry's Sistas premiered on BET, it struck a chord by centering on the enduring bond of four professional Black women navigating life, careers, and complicated relationships in Atlanta. Created, written, and directed by Tyler Perry, the hit comedy-drama relies heavily on its ensemble to drive its fast-paced plotlines. Understanding who plays who gives you a clearer picture of how these characters shape the show's ongoing emotional core.
The primary friend group consists of Andi, Danni, Karen, and Sabrina, each bringing a distinct personality and set of personal struggles to the table. Alongside them, a deep bench of supporting actors portrays the complicated romantic partners, colleagues, and rivals who keep the drama running high. Here is a breakdown of the core women powering the series and the key actors who bring them to life.
The Core Quartet: Meet the Leading Women
Andrea "Andi" Barnes – Played by KJ Smith
KJ Smith stars as Andi Barnes, an ambitious, sharp corporate attorney whose professional success often clashes with her turbulent personal life. Andi is caught in a high-stakes, legally tangled affair with a married man, Gary Marshall Borders, which constantly tests her judgment and loyalty to her friends. Smith portrays Andi with a mix of polished confidence and underlying vulnerability, making her courtroom poise contrast sharply with her romantic blind spots.
Daniella "Danni" King – Played by Mignon
Mignon (credited mononymously) plays Danni King, an abrasive yet fiercely protective airline supervisor. Danni is known for her no-nonsense attitude, sharp tongue, and deep loyalty to the group. While she acts as the tough-talking protector of her friends, her romantic life often highlights her reluctance to show emotional vulnerability. Mignon brings an intense, comedic, and grounded energy to the character that anchors many of the show's lighter and more dramatic moments.
Karen Mott – Played by Ebony Obsidian
Ebony Obsidian takes on the role of Karen Mott, a street-smart hair salon owner. Karen is fiercely independent, hardworking, and proud, but her life becomes messy due to her complicated history with her ex, Zac Taylor, and subsequent entanglements. Obsidian captures Karen's stubborn resilience and emotional depth, particularly as her business ventures and romantic triangles unfold across multiple seasons.
Sabrina Hollins – Played by Novi Brown
Novi Brown stars as Sabrina Hollins, a stylish and reserved bank supervisor. Sabrina navigates upscale professional spaces while dealing with unpredictable dating experiences, including questioning a partner's sexuality and dealing with high-profile workplace dynamics. Brown plays Sabrina with an understated elegance, balancing her character's refined exterior with genuine warmth and loyalty to the sisterhood.
Key Supporting Women Driving the Drama
Fatima Wilson – Played by Crystal Hayslett
Crystal Hayslett plays Fatima Wilson, an attorney who works alongside Andi and eventually becomes deeply involved with Zac Taylor. Fatima is fiercely protective, confident, and quick to defend her territory, making her a fan-favorite presence in the legal office and personal arenas alike. Hayslett transitioned from a background role behind the scenes into a prominent series regular due to fan reception.
Supporting and Recurring Figures
The narrative web expands outward through several crucial supporting actors who shape the women's daily obstacles:
- DeVale Ellis as Zac Taylor, Karen's ex-boyfriend whose entrepreneurial ambitions and new relationships spark constant tension.
- Chido Nwokocha as Gary Marshall Borders, Andi's married lover whose charm masks manipulative tendencies.
- Brian Jordan Jr. as Maurice Webb, Sabrina's loyal gay coworker and close confidant who provides sharp comedic relief.
- Kevin Walton as Aaron Carter, a conservative and devoted love interest linked to Karen.
