Hoda Kotb has an estimated net worth of $60 million, accumulated through decades of hard-fought broadcast journalism, bestselling books, and her prominent role as co-anchor of NBC's Today. From grinding out local news reporting gigs in small-town television markets to anchoring morning television in front of millions of viewers, her financial trajectory mirrors her professional ascent.
Understanding how she built this fortune reveals the economics of modern broadcast media, where longevity, mainstream trust, and brand diversification drive major wealth.
From Local News Roots to Network Stardom
Long before commanding multi-million dollar network contracts, Kotb spent years working her way up through regional newsrooms. After graduating from Virginia Tech, she took local reporting and anchoring jobs in places like Greenville, Mississippi, and New Orleans, Louisiana. Those early years didn't offer massive paychecks, but they forged the interviewing style and on-air resilience that caught the attention of national producers.
When she joined NBC News as a national correspondent in 1998, her profile expanded significantly. Her work on Dateline NBC and across various network specials established her as a versatile journalist capable of handling everything from hard-hitting international reporting to human-interest features.
The Today Show Contract and Salary Milestones
The bulk of Kotb's modern wealth stems from her tenure on NBC's Today. When she stepped into the co-anchor role alongside Savannah Guthrie in 2018, her starting annual salary was reported to be around $7 million to $8 million.
As her popularity grew—particularly during her run anchoring the fourth hour alongside Kathie Lee Gifford and later Jenna Bush Hager—her compensation increased. Industry reports place her peak annual earnings at around $20 million, positioning her among the highest-paid anchors in morning television history. When she announced her departure from the Today show, it marked the end of an era that redefined morning broadcasting.
According to a profile by Forbes, her career has been decorated with multiple Daytime Emmy Awards and a Peabody Award, credentials that heavily influence high-tier talent negotiations.
Bestselling Books and Media Ventures
Beyond her daily television salary, Kotb leveraged her public platform into a successful publishing career. She has authored several books, including memoirs and inspirational collections that hit the New York Times bestseller list. Titles like Hoda: How I Survived War Zones, Bad Hair, Cancer, and Kathie Lee and This Just Speaks to Me resonated deeply with readers, adding substantial royalties to her net worth.
She also expanded into the digital space, hosting podcasts and launching companion content tied to the Today brand as well as independent projects focused on personal growth. These ventures capture additional revenue streams outside traditional broadcast contracts.
Real Estate and Lifestyle Investments
With a high-profile media career comes substantial real estate holdings. Kotb maintains a primary residence in an Upper Manhattan apartment in New York City, offering a short commute to Rockefeller Center.
