Planning a trip to the warehouse requires checking schedules ahead of time to avoid locked doors or long lines at the pump. The Fairfax Virginia location at 4725 W Ox Rd runs on specific operating schedules that vary between the main retail floor, the pharmacy, and the fuel station. Knowing these details before you leave helps you avoid wasted trips.
Main warehouse hours depend slightly on your membership tier, while ancillary services operate on their own distinct clocks. This schedule breakdown covers the exact operating hours for every department at the Fairfax warehouse, along with local tips for navigating peak traffic times.
Main Warehouse Operating Hours
The Fairfax location maintains standard operating schedules for Gold Star and Business members, while Executive members get early access options.
- Monday through Friday: 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM
- Saturday: 9:30 AM to 7:00 PM
- Sunday: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Executive members can enter the warehouse starting at 9:00 AM Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM on Saturdays, and 9:00 AM on Sundays. Keep in mind that registers do not always process regular checkouts instantly at the early hour, but it allows you to browse and load carts before the main rush begins. You can verify membership details directly on the Costco Membership Page. For another look on this story, check out the latest update from Reuters.
Gas Station Schedule
Fuel availability is one of the biggest draws for members looking to save on daily commutes around Northern Virginia. The Fairfax gas station opens earlier and closes later than the main warehouse.
- Monday through Friday: 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM
- Saturday: 6:00 AM to 8:30 PM
- Sunday: 6:00 AM to 7:30 PM
Queues peak heavily between 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM on weekdays as commuters head home from office parks along the Fairfax County Parkway. Visiting before 8:00 AM or after 8:30 PM usually means pulling straight up to an open pump with zero wait time.
Pharmacy Hours and Lunch Closures
The pharmacy counter is located inside the main building but follows independent hours. If you're picking up prescriptions, make sure you arrive before the pharmacy shutters for the evening or closes on Sundays.
- Monday through Friday: 9:00 AM to 8:30 PM
- Saturday: 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Sunday: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Note that when only one pharmacist is on duty, the pharmacy may close for a 30-minute lunch break, typically scheduled between 1:30 PM and 2:30 PM. Calling ahead at (703) 802-1229 ensures you don't arrive right during the staff break.
Specialty Department Hours
Other in-house services have unique windows that don't always match the main retail floor doors.
- Tire Service Center: Open Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM, Saturday from 9:30 AM to 7:00 PM, and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Appointments can be managed through the Costco Tire Service Portal.
- Optical Department: Typically aligns with standard daytime staffing, though you should call (703) 332-3201 to confirm optometrist availability before making a special trip for eye exams.
- Food Court: Operates during standard warehouse hours, closing shortly after the main registers lock up for the evening.
Avoiding Peak Traffic and Crowds
Fairfax County traffic combined with a popular wholesale club creates massive parking bottlenecks, especially near the W Ox Rd entrance. Saturdays between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM represent the heaviest congestion period of the week.
If you want a calm shopping experience, try arriving right when doors open on weekday mornings, or visit during the final two hours before closing time when aisles clear out significantly.
