Tracking the Club America schedule for the 2024 season required navigating a complex calendar across Liga MX, the CONCACAF Champions Cup, Leagues Cup, and high-profile international friendlies. As one of Mexico's most successful and heavily watched professional football teams, Las Águilas played a demanding year-round fixture list that tested squad depth and kept supporters locked into multiple broadcast networks.
If you're trying to review how their 2024 campaign unfolded, where matches were broadcast, or how the team managed a packed calendar, you're in the right place. Let's break down the key dates, tournament structures, and viewing options that defined Club America's 2024 football schedule.
Understanding the Club America 2024 Calendar Structure
Club America's fixture list wasn't confined to a single domestic competition. Mexican club football operates on a split-season format, and elite teams regularly participate in regional international cups. During 2024, the club's schedule split into several distinct competitive blocks:
- Clausura 2024 Playoffs (January–May): The conclusion of the 2023-25 winter tournament phase, culminating in high-stakes knockout rounds.
- CONCACAF Champions Cup (Spring): International matches against top North and Central American clubs.
- Club Friendlies & Summer Tournaments (July–August): Pre-season exhibitions against European giants and group matches in the Leagues Cup against MLS opponents.
- Apertura 2024 Regular Season and Liguilla (July–December): The autumn tournament phase determining the second domestic champion of the year.
Managing this volume of matches meant playing twice a week for months at a time. Head coach André Jardine leaned heavily on squad rotation to keep key players like Henry Martín and Luis Malagón fresh.
Key Tournaments and Major Fixture Blocks
Clausura 2024 and CONCACAF Champions Cup Run
The first half of 2024 put Club America's endurance to the test. In the CONCACAF Champions Cup, Las Águilas advanced deep into the tournament, facing intense domestic and international rivals. Matches against teams like Pachuca in the semifinals demanded peak physical conditioning. Simultaneously, the Clausura Liguilla required precise tactical execution under immense pressure.
The Summer Stretch: Leagues Cup and Friendlies
When domestic play paused for the summer, Club America traveled to the United States for high-profile friendlies and the Leagues Cup. Fixtures against MLS sides and exhibition games against Premier League opposition—such as Chelsea and Aston Villa in August 2024—offered international exposure and tested the squad against different tactical styles.
Apertura 2024 Campaign
The second half of the year brought the Apertura 2024 tournament. Club America played their home fixtures at Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes while regular venue adjustments occurred. Key regular-season clashes against traditional rivals like Cruz Azul, Pumas UNAM, and Chivas Guadalajara anchored the autumn schedule, driving massive television audiences across North America.
Where to Watch Club America Matches
Finding the right broadcast channel for Club America matches depends on whether they're playing at home in Liga MX, traveling for an away fixture, or competing in a cross-border tournament like the Leagues Cup.
- Liga MX Home Matches: Domestic league games hosted by Club America typically air on TUDN and Televisa's open television networks in Mexico, while U.S. viewers catch them via Univision, TUDN, or streaming services like Vix.
- Leagues Cup and CONCACAF: International tournament matches are widely accessible through platforms like MLS Season Pass on Apple TV for Leagues Cup fixtures, and Fox Sports or TUDN for CONCACAF Champions Cup games.
- Streaming Alternatives: Cord-cutters often rely on live TV streaming aggregators such as FuboTV or DirecTV Stream to access Spanish and English language broadcasts without a traditional cable box.
Common Mistakes When Tracking Liga MX Schedules
If you're researching past soccer schedules or trying to plan around future fixture releases, keep these common pitfalls in mind:
- Confusing Tournament Phases: Liga MX splits into Apertura and Clausura tournaments. Make sure you don't mix up regular-season matchweeks with the Liguilla (playoffs), which use a two-legged home-and-away knockout format.
- Ignoring Time Zone Shifts: Matches played in Mexico City are scheduled in Central Time (CT), but daylight saving time changes can shift broadcast times relative to U.S. Pacific or Eastern zones. Always verify local kickoff times.
- Assuming Static Venues: Elite clubs occasionally shift home matches due to stadium renovations, concert events, or league sanctions. Checking official club announcements prevents wasted travel plans.
