Cleo Anderson is roughly 19 to 20 years old across the timeline of Netflix's hit adventure series Outer Banks. Introduced in Season 2 as a tough, resourceful crew member on Captain Terrance's cargo ship in Nassau, she quickly transitions from an antagonist hunting John B and Sarah to an essential core member of the Pogues. Her exact fictional birthdate is established as February 1, 2002, making her a peer to characters like John B, Sarah, Pope, and Kiara as they navigate high-stakes treasure hunts.
Understanding Cleo's age requires looking closely at how the show handles character timelines versus the real-life actors playing them. While teenage drama timelines often stretch across multiple seasons with fluid spacing, Cleo's backstory reveals a hardened youth that forces her to grow up fast long before she ever meets the Pogues.
Character Age Progression Across Seasons
The timeline of Outer Banks moves rapidly through successive treasure hunts, putting pressure on the characters' ages and maturity levels. Cleo enters the narrative as an independent survivor who has spent years fending for herself.
- Season 2: Cleo is introduced as approximately 18 years old, working under Captain Terrance in the Bahamas and crossing paths with John B and Sarah.
- Season 3: Her age moves to roughly 18 and 19 as she joins the group on their stranded island adventure and relocates to the Outer Banks, fully integrating into the Pogue inner circle.
- Season 4 and Beyond: As the narrative progresses into later treasure pursuits, Cleo reaches 19 to 20 years old, cementing her partnership with Pope and taking on major physical and emotional risks alongside the crew.
Real-Life Age of Actress Carlacia Grant
A common point of curiosity for fans is the gap between fictional character ages and the actors portraying them. Actress Carlacia Grant brings Cleo to life with immense physical presence and comedic timing, but she is older than her on-screen counterpart. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Grant began her professional acting career years before landing her breakout role on the Netflix series. Like many ensemble members in teen and young adult television dramas, Grant plays a teenager while being in her early thirties. This dynamic is standard for the series, where actors in their mid-to-late twenties and early thirties routinely portray characters in their late teens. - The Nassau Years: Long before meeting American teenagers, Cleo learned street smarts, knife combat, and maritime navigation to survive in hostile port towns.
- Cultural Roots: With heritage tied to the Caribbean, Cleo brings a distinct global perspective to the localized North Carolina conflicts of the Pogues.
