Main Heroes and Allies
The core heroic team centers around Sam Wilson and his inner circle as they navigate a dangerous international incident.
- Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson / Captain America: Mackie takes center stage as the primary lead of an MCU film for the first time. Unlike Steve Rogers, Sam lacks super-soldier serum enhancements, relying instead on his vibranium wings, tactical intelligence, and deep empathy.
- Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres / Falcon: Stepping up from his introduction in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Torres inherits the Falcon winged mantle. He acts as Sam's close operational partner in the field.
- Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley: Returning from his emotional introduction in the Disney Plus series, the veteran super-soldier faces harrowing new challenges when outside forces manipulate him during a crisis.
- Shira Haas as Ruth Bat-Seraph: A former government operative and current security advisor to the administration who brings a sharp perspective to the unfolding political conflict.
The Administration and Adversaries
Power struggles in Washington and the shadows drive the conflict, bringing major political figures and masterminds into play.
- Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross / Red Hulk: Ford steps into the role originally played by the late William Hurt. Ross is now the President of the United States, attempting to work alongside Sam Wilson before a gamma-fueled transformation turns him into the formidable Red Hulk.
- Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns / The Leader: Returning to the franchise for the first time since 2008's The Incredible Hulk, Nelson plays the calculating mastermind manipulating events from behind the scenes.
- Giancarlo Esposito as Sidewinder: The veteran actor joins the universe as a dangerous criminal leader and tactical threat who crosses paths with the new Cap.
- Liv Tyler as Betty Ross: Tyler reprises her classic role as scientific researcher Betty Ross, reconnecting with the franchise dynamics surrounding her father.
Supporting Operatives and Underworld Figures
Several peripheral characters add depth to the espionage and action sequences throughout the runtime.
- Rosa Salazar as Diamondback: Portraying the agile and lethal comic character Rachel Leighton, Salazar brings a sharp edge to the physical confrontations.
- Xosha Roquemore as Leila Taylor: A dedicated Secret Service agent caught up in the security breaches surrounding the commander-in-chief.
- Takehiro Hira as Prime Minister Ozaki: Representing international diplomatic interests that become entangled in the global conspiracy.
Behind the Scenes and Production Context
Bringing this project to life required a distinct shift in tone compared to cosmic space adventures or multiverse romps. Director Julius Onah focused heavily on grounded, gritty hand-to-hand combat and political paranoia reminiscent of 1970s thrillers.
The production team utilized practical stunt work and real-world choreography to emphasize Sam Wilson's vulnerability as an ordinary human fighting against overwhelming odds.
